Shopify Build and Migration | North Star IT

Shopify stores
that actually sell.

We build, migrate, and tune Shopify stores from Prince George. Heavy equipment parts, rentals, fitness, food and beverage, trades. If you sell to customers, businesses, or both, we have done it.

// WHAT WE BUILD

Stores, migrations, and the plumbing.

We are not a Shopify Plus agency for global brands. We are the team you call when you sell real things in BC, Alberta, or Yukon, and you need a store that does not break.

// 01

New store build

From a blank Shopify tenant to a launched, conversion-tuned store. Theme, products, payments, shipping, taxes, automations.

  • BUILD
// 02

Platform migration

WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, Squarespace, custom carts. Products, customers, orders, redirects, SEO equity preserved.

  • MIGRATE
// 03

Performance tune-up

Existing store, slow, leaky checkout, or just tired. We audit, fix the conversion blockers, and lift speed scores.

  • TUNE
// 04

B2B and wholesale

Quoting, net terms, customer-specific catalogues and pricing, ERP-linked inventory. Done properly on Shopify B2B.

  • B2B
// 05

Multi-location and shipping

Multiple warehouses, freight rates, pallet shipping, will-call pickup. Heavy and oversized SKUs sorted.

  • FREIGHT
// 06

Integrations

QuickBooks, HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Meta and Google Ads, custom APIs. We write the bridges, you keep the data clean.

// HOW IT WORKS

From kickoff to launch.

Most new builds run six to ten weeks. Migrations run four to eight. Tune-ups run two to four. We work in weekly check-ins so there are no surprises.

// STEP · 01

Scope and quote

Forty-five minute discovery call. Products, payments, shipping, integrations. Quote inside two business days.

// STEP · 02

Design

Two rounds of design on a real Shopify theme, not a deck. Mobile first. Built around your actual products.

// STEP · 03

Build and integrate

Store built in a dev environment. Products imported, payments and tax configured, shipping rates set, integrations wired up.

// STEP · 04

User acceptance

You and your team run real orders end to end in the dev store. Anything that feels off, we fix before launch.

// STEP · 05

Launch

DNS flip, redirects in place, analytics confirmed. We watch the first 72 hours of traffic and orders closely.

// PRICING

Fixed scope. Fixed price.

Every engagement starts with a fixed scope and fixed price. Hourly work is for changes after launch.

// 01

// QUESTIONS

Things people ask us.

If your question is not here, ask. We answer email within a business day.

Why Shopify and not WooCommerce?
We use the platform that makes sense. For most BC SMBs that is Shopify because hosting, security, and updates are handled. We will tell you honestly if your situation calls for something else.
Can you handle PST and GST correctly?
Yes. BC PST is the one nobody else gets right. We configure it properly per SKU class so you are not under-collecting or over-collecting.
Do you handle ongoing marketing?
We focus on the build and the platform. We are happy to recommend partners for paid ads or refer you to the lead generation page if you want that side of the work too.
Will you train our staff?
Yes. Every launch includes a two-hour staff training session with a recorded walkthrough they can rewatch.
Who owns the work?
You do. Shopify account in your name, code in your repo, content yours. No lock-in.
Do you have examples?
Yes. See our projects page for Rent With AIM and Artic Machinery, both built and run by us.
