North Star IT (“North Star,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws in Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon.
1. Who we are
North Star IT is a Canadian technology services company providing branding, website creation, device procurement, email management, mobility setup, remote deployments, Starlink and TELUS management, and related IT services. We operate physically in Alberta, British Columbia, and Yukon, and remotely Canada-wide.

2. Information we collect
We only collect information you give us directly. We do not buy lists, scrape data, or use third-party tracking pixels.

Automatic information
Our website is hosted on Netlify. Netlify automatically logs basic technical information for security and performance, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or advertising pixels on this site.
3. How we use your information
We use your personal information only to:
- Respond to your inquiry
- Provide services you have requested or engaged us for
- Communicate about active projects, invoices, or support
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not send marketing emails unless you specifically ask to be added to a list.
4. How we share your information
We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us operate (e.g., email hosting, project management tools). These providers are bound by confidentiality and use your data only to perform services for us.
- Law enforcement or regulators if required by Canadian law, valid court order, or to protect our rights.
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to equivalent privacy protections.
5. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored primarily in Canada. Some service providers we use (such as email and cloud platforms) may store data in the United States or other jurisdictions, where it may be subject to lawful access by foreign authorities. We choose providers with strong security and contractual privacy commitments.
6. How long we keep your information
We retain personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above:
- Contact form inquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted unless you become a client.
- Active client records: for the duration of our engagement and up to 7 years after, to meet Canadian tax and business record retention obligations.
- Project files: deleted or returned within 90 days of project completion unless you ask us to keep them on file.
7. How we protect your information
We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, multi-factor authentication on internal accounts, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
8. Your rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Withdraw consent for us to use your information (subject to legal and contractual restrictions)
- Request deletion of your information when it is no longer needed
- File a complaint with us, or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

9. Cookies and tracking
This website does not use cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party tracking. If we ever add analytics or other tracking, we will update this policy and add a cookie notice.
10. Children
Our services are intended for businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated to active clients directly.
