Our commitment

North Star IT is committed to making northstarit.ca accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of technology or ability. We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard for all pages on this site.

What we have done

• Skip-to-content link on every page for keyboard users
• Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
• Colour contrast ratios meeting or exceeding 4.5:1 for all text
• Alt text on all images
• Properly associated form labels on all form fields
• Logical heading hierarchy (h1, h2, h3) throughout
• ARIA landmarks: header, nav, main, and footer on every page
• Keyboard-accessible navigation and mobile menu
• Reduced motion support via prefers-reduced-motion media query
• lang="en" declared on every page

Known limitations

We are aware of the following areas where accessibility could be improved and are working to address them:

• Some older embedded content and third-party tools may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. We have limited control over third-party components.
• PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible. Contact us and we will provide an accessible alternative on request.

Technical information

northstarit.ca is built with semantic HTML5, CSS3, and minimal JavaScript. It does not rely on a framework that adds inaccessible markup. The site has been tested using keyboard-only navigation and automated accessibility tools.
