Verify a listed device, not a changing total
The federal list provides an ELD identifier, certification number, certified date, status, certification body and technical-standard version. Check the exact model and status; revoked or withdrawn entries are not currently active certifications.
The list is dynamic and its row count is not an active-device count. Record the device identifiers reviewed, the date, status and standard version; do not use a total row count as a fleet-compliance or market-size claim.
Plan a controlled fleet transition
Inventory each truck, device model, firmware or app version, cable, assigned driver, jurisdiction and operating pattern. Ask the vendor for the exact certification record, affected models, software release, proposed transition milestones and support plan; confirm official implementation dates before scheduling changes.
Test sign-in, duty-status edits, malfunction events, roadside transfer, diagnostics, cellular buffering, supervisor review and record export under an approved pilot. Preserve test, training and rollout evidence.
