About North Star | Prince George Managed IT

Why North Star

The IT company that calls Prince George home, and knows what that means.

We don't sell templates. We build technology, branding, and operations around the way you actually work, designed for growth, proven in demanding environments, supported long after launch.

North Star was built in Prince George, BC, not imported from a big-city head office. We understand what it means to run a business in Northern BC: spotty connectivity in remote sites, vendors who have never heard of your region, and support teams that disappear when a problem gets complicated. That experience shaped how we work, what we build, and who we hire.

We are a full-stack managed IT provider. That means helpdesk, cybersecurity, cloud, compliance, and project work, handled by the same team, under one roof, billed on a predictable monthly schedule. No handoffs to subcontractors you have never met. No finger-pointing when something breaks across two services.

How we're different

The same team, not a ticket number.

National MSPs sell a standardised stack and assign you a ticket number. We learn how your business operates before we touch a single configuration.

Onboarding

Discovery before configuration

Our onboarding process starts with a genuine discovery phase, users, devices, software, workflows, and the things that have been annoying you for years. The output is a documented environment baseline you own, regardless of what happens next.

People

Founder-led and Canadian-staffed

Everyone who answers your helpdesk ticket or joins your quarterly review is based in Canada. We bill in CAD, store data in Canada, and operate under Canadian privacy law.

Straight talk

We don't oversell

If a client asks for something they don't need, we say so. If a cheaper tool does the same job as an expensive one, we recommend it. Transparency is not a marketing word for us, it shows up in monthly reports, itemised proposals, and phone calls where we tell you something you don't want to hear.

Ownership

Documentation you can actually use

Every runbook, network diagram, and vendor contract belongs to the client. If you ever leave, you leave informed.

Who we work with

Teams of 5 to 200 users, and the places they operate.

Size and sectors

5 to 200 users

We focus on organisations between 5 and 200 users across Northern BC, BC, Alberta, and Yukon. Our strongest sectors include construction, forestry, professional services, healthcare, non-profit, and resource industries, the kinds of businesses that can't afford downtime and can't always wait three days for an on-site technician.

Complexity

Field offices and cross-border teams

If you have field offices, remote sites, or teams working across provincial borders, you already know how complicated IT can get. That complexity is where we are most useful.

Coverage

Dispatch across BC, Alberta, and Yukon

Our field engineers dispatch across BC, Alberta, and Yukon. For clients outside our on-site radius, remote-first support covers the day-to-day, and we schedule site visits for project work. We have supported remote camps, mine sites, field offices, and multi-location franchises from the same Prince George base.

We'd love to hear what you're working on.
