A website that fills tables, not one that just looks tasty.
For restaurants, cafes, breweries, and food trucks, a website has one job: turn a hungry person searching on their phone into a customer at your counter. North Star builds fast, honest restaurant websites for a scoped fixed fee, delivered remotely anywhere in Canada, and keeps the menu and hours current after launch.
What a restaurant website must nail.
Most restaurant sites fail on the basics, not on ambition. Almost everyone who lands on your site is deciding, right now, whether to eat with you tonight. Six things decide it.
A menu that is current and readable on a phone.
No PDFs that force pinching and zooming, no photos of printed menus, no prices from last spring. We build your menu as a real, structured page that loads instantly, reads cleanly on a small screen, and takes minutes to update.
Hours that are actually true.
Nothing burns goodwill like driving to a closed door. Your hours live in one place, stay in sync with your Google Business Profile, and get updated for holidays and seasonal changes as part of your care plan.
Reservations and ordering on your terms.
We connect direct reservation and online ordering links, favouring flat fee tools over commission heavy middlemen wherever a suitable option exists, so more of each order stays in your till.
Photos that sell the plate.
People eat with their eyes before they book. We structure the site around your best photography, compressed properly so it looks rich and still loads fast on a phone in a parking lot.
Local schema that search engines can read.
Structured data for your location, cuisine, hours, and menu helps Google present your restaurant accurately in local results and maps, where most dining decisions start.
Speed and simplicity over flash.
Autoplaying video walls and splash animations lose hungry visitors on slow connections. We build light and fast, because a site that answers "what do you serve, when are you open, how do I order" in five seconds beats a showreel every time.
What third party only presence really costs.
Plenty of restaurants run on a delivery app profile and an Instagram page. It feels free. It is not.
A percentage of every single order.
Delivery and ordering apps commonly take a meaningful cut of each transaction, and in a business with thin margins that cut can be the difference between a good month and a bad one. They also own the customer relationship: the data, the reviews, and the repeat business accrue to their platform, not to you. Your own site turns your regulars into direct orders you keep the full value of.
Rented ground with an algorithm as landlord.
A social page cannot hold a full readable menu, its reach rises and falls with an algorithm you do not control, and a suspended or hacked account can erase your entire online presence overnight. Search engines also read very little from it. Social is a great megaphone. It is a terrible foundation.
Own the hub, rent the spokes.
Keep the apps and the social accounts that earn their keep, but point them all at a fast site you own. That is where the menu is authoritative, the hours are true, and the ordering link costs you the least. Every channel you rent should feed the one you own.
Fixed fee build. You own it. Published care plans.
The North Star model is deliberately simple, because you have a kitchen to run.
A scoped, fixed fee project.
We agree on the scope, quote a fixed price in writing, and deliver against it. No hourly meters, no surprise invoices. What a build costs depends on what you need; our plain language guide to small business website costs in Canada shows the honest ranges before you ever talk to us.
Your domain, your site, your content.
You own everything we build: the domain, the design, the code, and every word and photo on it. No proprietary platform, no hostage taking, no exit fee. If you ever move on, the site moves with you.
Delivered remotely, coast to coast.
Discovery, design reviews, and launch all happen over video calls with everything shared online, so we build for restaurants anywhere in Canada with the same process and the same standard.

Restaurant website questions, answered.
How much does a restaurant website cost?
Every North Star build is a scoped, fixed fee quoted in writing before any work starts, so the price depends on what your restaurant actually needs. A focused site with a menu, hours, location, and direct ordering links costs far less than a multi location build with event booking. The number we quote is the number you pay, with no hourly billing surprises.
Are menu and hours updates included in the care plans?
Yes. Every care plan tier includes menu and hours edits. Tier 1 at $149 per month covers hosting, security, backups, and small updates such as price changes or holiday hours. Tier 2 at $349 per month adds monthly content updates and priority response for full menu rewrites and seasonal changes. Tier 3 at $649 per month adds same day changes and online ordering support. Founding rates of $127, $297, and $552 per month apply to plans started before September 1, 2026.
Can you set up reservations and online ordering without commission apps?
In most cases, yes. Where a suitable option exists for your setup, we connect your site directly to reservation and ordering tools that charge flat fees instead of taking a percentage of every order. Delivery apps can still be part of your mix, but your own site should be the channel you promote first, because it is the one you control and the one that costs you the least per order.
Do I own my restaurant website?
Yes. You own the domain, the design, the code, and the content. There is no proprietary platform holding your site hostage and no lock in clause in the agreement. If you ever leave a care plan, the site goes with you.
Do you build restaurant websites outside your local area?
Yes. North Star delivers restaurant website projects remotely anywhere in Canada. Discovery, design reviews, and training all happen over video calls, and every deliverable is shared online. Distance has no effect on the quality of the build or the speed of support.
Is a Facebook or Instagram page enough for a restaurant?
Social pages are useful, but they are rented ground. Reach depends on an algorithm, the layouts cannot present a full menu clearly, and search engines cannot read your hours and location from a social profile the way they can from a website with local schema markup. A simple site of your own plus active social accounts outperforms social alone.
